Some of the many things we do...

Our Spelling Bee

Our Annual Spelling Bees draw students from area elementary and middle schools.  Awards include US Savings Bonds and cash.

In addition...
  • ...we raise money through social functions to support local volunteers.
  • ...we sponsor golf tournaments.
  • ...we support the Adopt-a-Highway program (see photo below).
  • ...we erect holiday lights (in cooperation with other organizations).
  • ...we operate a dental exchange program with the Newly Independent State of Ukraine.

One of Our Christmas In April Activities

Christmas-In-April Painting

This local Christmas In April home refurbishing project included painting inside and out, an entire new porch, and even yard work. The delighted homeowner "repaid" our Rotary volunteers with apple cake, baked beans and potato salad. Christmas-In-April Painted

We Also Adopt Highways

Serving The Community At Large

Welcome To Damascus Sign
Welcome Sign Logos Damascus Rotary was instrumental in the building of the now familiar community welcome signs along major routes that lead into our growing community. In all, six local civic-minded organizations contributed $1,500 each towards the cost. Their well known logos appear just below the "Welcome To Damascus" greeting.
In addition to Damascus Rotary, voluntary contributors included Damascus Lions Club, Damascus American Legion Post 171, the Izaak Walton League, Damascus Community Chamber of Commerce and Damascus Farmers Market.
Raising the Welcome Sign The project was conceived in 1994 when the Rotary and Lions Clubs decided that our town deserved some "welcome" recognition. Completed just before the Blizzard of '96, the 16-foot signs were dedicated on Tuesday, January 24, 1996.
