The 2005 Golf Tournament fundraiser was held on May 2nd at the Montgomery Country Club.  Damascus Rotary organized and administered the event. Golf tournament winners were Bob Latos for low gross score and T. Roberts for low net score.

This year we netted $4,700 for the Damascus Rotary Foundation.  Some $2,400 of that amount event went to the Carol Jean Cancer Foundation that runs a camp in Sunshine, Maryland for children suffering or recovering from various forms of cancer.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2005 the club awarded three $500 scholarships to graduating DHS seniors. Two scholarships were given for the Neill Davis scholarship/outstanding community service, and one (the first) Hubert E. Snapp award for vocational excellence.

The Neill Davis winners were Josh Dissin for 935 hours community service and Joanna Trippett for 813 hours community service. The Hubert E. Snapp vocational excellence winner was Micah Wiles.

In addition, we will again distribute dictionaries to all the third graders in the Damascus cluster.

We wish to thank all the golfers, sponsors and volunteers for their participation, with a special thank-you to Damascus Chevrolet, Burdette Brothers Pontiac and Diane Flood of Long and Foster Realtors.
